Locking on to leader-type enemies and picking them off one-by-one is satisfying stuff indeed and what's even more gratifying is deploying the over-the-top special moves. The core gameplay involves unleashing normal and charge attacks as well as dashing and jumping out of harm's way.
Overall, it's quite a standard affair but one that genre fans will enjoy. On the plus side, there's a huge cast of characters and it's very rewarding whenever you unlock familiar faces and folks who you may not immediately recognize. Even though I'm fairly certain that the story is new for Pirate Warriors 4, it's all extremely familiar and stereotypical so if you've played any other One Piece game, you'll know exactly what to expect here. The main story campaign (Dramatic Log) contains multiple arcs that each consist of a handful of stages. That being said, although it remains very true to the genre and plays it rather safe, it still makes for a fun time.
